A Conversation with the HomeWorks Marketing Team

Here at HomeWorks, we’re passionate about saving energy, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting climate change initiatives in our state. Every day, we work on ways to help our Massachusetts neighbors save energy and money in their homes. Our common goal is summed up in our organization’s mission of Energy Efficiency: Simplified, and this mission has a way of taking root in our personal lives. We often find ourselves looking for new ways to reduce our own carbon footprints and be more responsible citizens of our planet.

Recently, the HomeWorks Energy Marketing Team went around the room and shared their go-to ways to save energy at home. All of these habits add up to energy savings that positively impact our personal budgets as well as our global climate goals. Plus, we loved how each answer contained a little insight into the person’s lifestyle and personality. We hope you enjoy these tried and true energy-saving tips!

Question: What’s your favorite way to save energy at home?

“I like to keep my house pretty cold in the winter. I bundle up with a big sweater, fuzzy socks, and a blanket to stay warm and save energy.” – Christine, Retail & Event Coordinator

“I’ve gotten into composting, plus I hang my clothes up to dry!” – Abby, Channel Partnership Manager

“I have a Google Nest, and I stick to the energy efficiency setting. If I get a little chilly, I put on a sweatshirt or grab a blanket instead of adjusting the thermostat.” – Morgen, Retail & Event Coordinator

“Honestly, my favorite way to save energy is having HomeWorks insulate my house. I just had the job done, and now my drafty rooms are comfortable.” – Sam, Direct Mail Marketing Manager

“My favorite way to save energy is by napping on the couch under a blanket, which conserves my own energy and also means I’m not using any electronics!” – Bill, Chief Marketing Officer

“I’m obsessive about turning lights off when I leave a room.” – Jim, Customer Experience Manager

“Instead of cranking up the thermostat, I use a heating pad or heated blanket to stay cozy.” – Izzi, Associate Director of Field & Marketing Operations

“Shopping local. I like going to farmer’s markets to buy produce to minimize carbon emissions.” – Alissa, Director of Marketing Analytics

“I hate washing dishes by hand, which works out great because religiously using my dishwasher actually saves water!” – Kurtis, Partnership Coordinator

“Whenever I leave my house, I close the shades to keep the temperature inside consistent.” – Samantha, Partnership Manager

“I’m also obsessed with hang-drying my clothes! They last so much longer. And lately, I’m doing my best to limit my hot water use. I turn the shower off when I’m shaving, and sometimes I even take a cold shower.” – Allison, Copywriter

“In the winter, I keep the thermostat at 66°F and wear an extra layer. It saves energy, reduces heating costs and fuel consumption, and prevents the air from becoming too dry.” – Alla Werner, Direct Mail Marketing Manager
